(Thomas Circle) \/ February 2014 <\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"paragraph\" style=\"text-align:left;\"> Taking his &#8220;Here I Stand&#8221; pose, as he so often does when appearing in statue form, Dr. Luther is memorializing his glory days. You know, the Diet of Worms; his dramatic refusal to recant; his death sentence and midnight escape.<\/p>\n<p> The statue is a replica of one which stands in Germany at Worms (pronounced &#8220;Verms&#8221;) according to <a title=\"\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Luther_Place_Memorial_Church\">Wikipedia<\/a>. As I see it, there is no way either would&#8217;ve been granted statuehood in Washington, D.C. in the past fifty years.
