In <a title=\"\" href=\"http:\/\/www.goodreads.com\/book\/show\/235219.From_Pusan_to_Panmunjom\">his war-memoir<\/a> (chapter five), I found this:<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <span style=\"\"><strong>T<\/strong><strong style=\"\">he British [in the Korean War] were absolutely devoted to the ritual observance of tea-time<\/strong>. <\/span><br \/><span><\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <span style=\"\">They dropped <\/span><span style=\"\">everything at 4 P.M. to consume tea and cookies, <strong style=\"\">even during combat<\/strong>. British <\/span><br \/><span><\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <span style=\"\">artillery <\/span><span style=\"\"><\/span><span style=\"\">ceased firing for tea-time and then picked up the tempo afterward.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>He made those comments shortly after mentioning <a title=\"\" href=\"http:\/\/yuletide5142.weebly.com\/1\/post\/2013\/04\/post-40-the-fall-of-gloster-hill-april-25th.html\">the battle at Gloster Hill<\/a>, in which an entire British battalion (800 men) was encircled for three days and compelled to surrender in April of 1951. This led me to wonder if the Gloucester Battalion <em>also<\/em> found a way to stop everything for tea, at the appointed times, on those three days of encirclement. Gen. I&#8217;d entitle it:\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"paragraph\" style=\"text-align:center;\"><strong><font size=\"6\"><span style=\"\">Tea-Time at Gloster Hill<\/span><\/font><\/strong><\/div>\n<div class=\"paragraph\" style=\"text-align:left;\">I imagine it to be a dark-comedy, set in the British positions at Gloster Hill, April 23rd, 24th, and 25th, 1951. <\/p>\n<p><span><\/span>Maybe the story would have three acts, each act depicting tea-time on one of above-mentioned each days. <\/p>\n<p><span><font size=\"3\"><strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Act I:<\/strong><\/font> Day-1 Tea-Time &#8212; High Spirits<\/span> &#8212; Maybe they can repulse the attack?<br \/><strong style=\"\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong><span><font size=\"3\"><strong>Act II:<\/strong><\/font> Day-2 Tea-Time &#8212; Defeat Looming<\/span> &#8212; No escape<br \/><strong style=\"\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/strong><span><strong><font size=\"3\">Act III:<\/font><\/strong> POW Tea-Time<\/span> [As I understand it, the Englishmen all surrendered before noon on the 25th. <br \/><strong style=\"\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong>Maybe the third act we have them on the march north, bound for POW camps. Maybe the Chinese<br \/><strong style=\"\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong>commander would have allowed them drink tea on that first afternoon as POWs, as a show of good-will].\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"paragraph\" style=\"text-align:left;\">I like this premise.
